Why I am Running

Why I am running for County Board - look for posts here and on my Facebook site in the next few weeks on this topic.

There isn’t one single issue that drives me to run for DuPage County Board District 5 – among the reasons are:
Until a half-decade ago the County Board had many Republicans on it. Now, as in many units of government in DuPage County, Republicans, and even moderate Democrats, have largely disappeared. We need that Moderate and Republican voice back in the County Board and I will be that Commissioner.

Here is my platform for this election:

Accountability • Efficiency • Common Sense

I am running for County Board to restore accountability, reduce waste, and ensure DuPage County government works for taxpayers—not bureaucracy.

✔ Accountability in County Government

All County offices must follow the same rules for budgeting, internal controls, and competitive bidding that apply to every unit of government in Illinois. The County Clerk’s Office should not be an exception. If the current structure prevents accountability, the office must be reorganized to protect taxpayers and the County’s financial integrity.

✔ Streamlining Government & Reducing Duplication

DuPage County should thoroughly review duplicative services—especially in affordable housing, food assistance, and road maintenance. Multiple levels of government are spending millions, yet costs continue to rise. We must consolidate services where possible, eliminate unnecessary overlap, and focus on results instead of bureaucracy.

✔ Responsible Use of Taxpayer Dollars

County government should stop issuing millions of dollars in grants to small businesses, nonprofits, and other government entities—particularly those outside DuPage County. Public dollars must be spent transparently, responsibly, and with clear benefits to County residents.

✔ Protecting Unincorporated Communities

Residents in unincorporated areas deserve the same standards as those living in incorporated municipalities. The County must address abandoned and neglected properties, enforce maintenance standards, and ensure these neighborhoods are not treated as second-class communities.

✔ Respecting Local Community Standards

The County should not allow gaming machines or cannabis sales in unincorporated areas when surrounding municipalities prohibit them. County policies should align with the values of neighboring communities.

A Commitment to Common Sense Leadership

I am running to bring fiscal discipline, transparency, and practical decision-making to the County Board—so DuPage County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
